Week 6 : Bed design

According to wikipedia, a bed is a large piece of furniture used as a place to sleep, and as a primary place for relaxation and sexual activity. Today's beds usually consist of a mattress places on top of a box spring inner-sprung base. The box spring is a large mattress-sized box containing wood and springs that provide additional support and suspension for the mattress.

As for me, bed plays an important role which effects the environment of a place. For example, the overall environment of a room depends largely especially on the shape of a bed. Why i said so??? This is because nowadays, people are getting more and more fussy just because their urge are hunting more on the design of their bed. Therefore, designer nowadays no longer create the bed in rectangle shapes as before, they have become more and more creative which you can't imagined how they create those bed out.

Somehow, you will understand why i said so only after you have seen those pictures. Let's proceed to the pictures part.

The two semi-circular sides of the bed can be separated resulting two new pieces of furniture. Haven't you ever wanted to curl up inside a juicy hamburger? No? Well, too bad.

#9- Magnetic Floating Bed

#10- Cosmovoide Bed
This luxury bed is shaped like an egg (to either give you Morkian dreams, or wrap you up in cozy cosmic harmony or some such nonsense), has hammock-like suspending springs, seven rainbow-colored LEDs, a telephone, and a DVD/home theater set-up including a TV at its foot. Most fascinating? Its twin "electric relaxation bed frames," which just get the mind boggling.

At night, the bed can come down in the manner of an elevator and stops at the height previously requested, thus avoiding moving furniture that would have been placed underneath it.

Week 5 : Advertisement

Environmental Design however itself does relate to Media Innovation and both are linked with some similarities somehow. As from my personal point of view, advertising is one of the similarity that i am mentioned here. If i ask you guys what is advertising, sure a lot of people will think that advertising is actually the advertisement we see mostly from the TV, newspaper, magazines and so fort. But what if i ask you another way round, what advertising is mainly about and how deep we know the word advertising is???

What is advertising??
Advertising is paid communication through a non-personal medium in which the sponsor is identified, the message is controlled and normally persuasive in nature.

The slide that i copy from media innovation class

As for me, i've came across with an advertisement of a brand recently....i wondered did you guys here of the brand 'OLD SPICE'???
Old Spice has 71 years of experience helping guys improve their mansmells with deodorant, antiperspirant and fragrances.

And here are some of the videos i would like to share with you guys where their CREATIVITY hit to the TOP. I wondered how they manage to make it works??? Anyway, let us proceed to the video part^^

Week 5 : Lighting

As what has been stated from the Wikipedia, lighting or illumination is the deliberate application of light to achieve some aesthetic or practical effect. Lighting includes use of both artificial light sources such as lamps and natural illumination of interiors from daylight.

As from my personal point of view, lighting plays an important role as one of the main subject in an environment. It does make a big changes in the contrast of an environment.

The Noa colorful glass lamp ideas was created by Lucente. This Noa glass lamps collection consists of table, floor and ceiling glass lamps available in various colors and sizes. The design of the lamp is simple and very flexible as a floor lamp, ceiling-mounted and also wall mounted designs, not only comes with modern looks and stylish, but also save energy, saving light bulbs that will maximize the energy.

Lamp by Marcus Tremonto – Carbon 451

Week 4 : Project 2

We are given on another assignment on designing a bus stop in 3D form. The actual size of the bus stand is fixed as what had been given by our lecturer, Mr. Zulkiffli. We are also being teached on how to built a mini bus stop by cutting, pasting and combining all the card boards together under his guidance. At the very beginning, we are required to choose on a local brand where we need to design the templates out and make it as one of the theme for our bus stop.

According to Wikipedia, a bus stop is a designated place where buses stop for passengers to board or leave a bus. These are normally positioned on the highway and are distinct from off-highway facilities such as bus stations. The construction of bus stops tends to reflect the level of usage. Stops at busy locations may have shelters, seating and possibly electronic passenger information systems; less busy stops may use a simple pole and flag to mark the location and 'customary stops' have no specific infrastructure being known by their description. Bus stops may be clustered together into transport hubs allowing interchange between routes from nearby stops and with other public transport modes.

Therefore, bus stop can function well as a place where advertisement took place. Since it is a place to wait for buses, people can spent their time by looking on those advertisements which have been paste on the bus stop’s wall instead. In my opinion, by promoting a brand through the usage of a bus stop is an effective way indeed.
